Thursday Nights 6:30-8:30pm Weekly
Our Goal with a fly fishing youth group is to provide an activity for youth that will build skills to take out on their own, build relationships with other like minded youth and learn life skills. In this group we will learn not only fly fishing skills but how to be conservation minded and respect our surroundings.
Subjects to be taught throughout the year;
- Bug Anatomy
- Fly Tying
- Fly Casting
- Boat Safety
- Fish Handling
- Rules and Regulations
- Species Identification
- Life Cycle of Salmon
- Life Cycle of Trout
- Stream Clean-up
- Fish Out
During the school year we will be hosting a series of fly tying nights, casting lessons, bug anatomy, boat safety and much more for the youth in the Comox Valley. Each night we will be focusing on building the skills of the youth so they are able to tie a fly take it to a lake, river or beach and use their new found skills to catch fish and enjoy the outdoors.
During the winter months we will be focused on "filling our fly boxes" in preparation for some outings to local lakes and river come spring time. Come June we plan to host a two day group camping trip with the help of parents and Volunteers for some world class trout fishing using all the skills gained through the season.
